The Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 has almost similar fuel economy ratings to the Velar but offers some impressive driving range figures owing to its huge gas tank.Ģ022 Land Rover Range Rover Velar SUV Infotainment System The Porsche Macan, despite being almost equally specced as the Velar, is the least fuel-efficient of the lot. The BMW X5 truly impresses with its fuel economy numbers considering the amount of power and performance it has on tap. On the downside, the SUV gets a rather small 16.6-gallons gas tank which is on the smaller side as per the segment and fails to offer a commendable driving range. The turbocharged four-pot motor does a great job of balancing performance and fuel economy and returns a maximum of 21 MPG within the city limits, 27 MPG out on the highways, and 23 MPG of combined mileage. On the handling department, the GLE350 is quite similar to the Velar by offering a balanced ride quality.įor a compact luxury crossover, the 2022 Range Rover Velar returns some decent fuel economy figures. The Mercedes-Benz GLE350 has more torque and horsepower than the Velar but is only marginally quicker than the latter. The Macan, however, has the best handling among the rivals here and its compact dimensions help it to a great extent. The Porsche Macan matches up with the Velar in terms of power figures but is quicker than the Velar in the 0-60mph run. The overall handling and ride quality of the X5 is better than the Velar to some extent and it emphasizes more on offering a pleasurable driving experience rather than a rugged feeling. The BMW X5 is the most powerful one here with the quickest acceleration times but has the highest base price too. Regardless of the size of the brakes, the SUV is equipped with several braking features such as ABS, Brake Assist, and Cornering Brake Control to offer superb braking performance in almost every driving scenario. The Range Rover Velar gets decent-sized brakes as compared to its dimensions and weight. The latter engine in the P400 tune sees a power and torque bump. Irrespective of engine options the ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission is available with all the engine options. There are two engine options, the base being (P250) 247-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 motor while the other being (P340) 335-hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 motor. The trim levels include S, R-Dynamic S, and R-Dynamic HSE. The P400’s CO2 emissions drop from 227g/km to 211g/km thanks to the hybridisation.The 2022 Range Rover Velar will be a carryover model, the trim levels will also remain the same as the outgoing model. The larger 3.0-litre straight-six petrol is only available in Dynamic HSE and Autobiography trim and comes with 395bhp and 550Nm of torque for a 5.2-second 0-60mph time. Petrol models start with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder - also with mild-hybrid technology, providing 247bhp and 365Nm of torque for a 0-60mph sprint of 7.1 seconds. This allows for 0-60mph time of 6.1 seconds and a CO2 emissions figure of 188g/km and fuel consumption of 39.2mpg. Step up to the D300 and you’ll find a mild-hybrid 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine with 296hp and 650Nm of torque. This means the D200 has CO2 emissions of 168g/km and fuel consumption of up to 44.1mpg. The D200 diesel engine now comes with mild-hybrid power courtesy of a 48V motor. Dynamic SE starts from £58,450, Dynamics HSE at £64,045 and range-topping Autobiography from £76,415. Starting from £54,045, the Range Rover Velar can be had in entry-level S guise with the cheapest powertrain option - a mild-hybrid 201bhp 2.0-litre diesel.
